In addition to everything listed below, our large Indian Almond tree offers generous shade and natural coolness throughout the year. When we opened 12 years ago, it was a slender young tree — today, it has grown into a protective giant, providing refreshing shelter by day and a gentle canopy by night.

Upon arrival, enjoy our Gurue cold lemon tea — refreshingly smooth and fragrant after a long journey, a gentle welcome that revives the senses and offers your very first taste of Jardim dos Aloés.

A rich, entirely homemade breakfast. Our home-baked breads and signature jams are a true highlight—celebrated not only on Ilha but far beyond. All guests share one large table and, whenever possible, breakfast together. It’s a cherished tradition in our home, offering the chance to meet, exchange stories, and enjoy good company—an experience truly unique on the Island.

Fresh aloe gel to soothe and help regenerate the skin, especially before and after sun exposure. True to our name, the spirit of aloe is always at hand, offering comfort and care throughout your stay.

We arrange reliable transfers. Roads are in good condition. A taxi will wait for you at the airport gate or come to the hotel you indicate. The journey will last three hours from Nampula and two hours from Nacala. The rate is for 1-4 people, 4 people if with limited luggage. Prices are (1–3 pax, one way ~3h)

With steady winds, each day becomes perfect for exploring nearby islets, snorkeling spots, beaches, and charming local restaurants. You can relax on the pristine white sands of Ilha de Goa and visit its historic lighthouse, or set sail to Ilha de 7 Paus near the giant whales. Continue to the endless beaches of Carrusca, and on your way back, stop at Cabeceira Village Restaurant for a delicious lunch of gnocchi al polpo (octopus gnocchi). If you arrive by midday, we recommend the simplest tour, as as priced here, beginning with an afternoon stroll of the entire Ilha to gain a first impression of its unique character. In the Stone & Lime Town, discover the Fortress, the Museum, the 19th-century hospital, and other landmarks — either on foot or by bicycle, accompanied by an English- or Portuguese-speaking guide. Then, take a glimpse of the Macuti area, where most of the island’s residents live and daily life unfolds. In the following days, you can return to the places that captured your interest and continue exploring the island’s hidden corners and stories or on demand we can create other personalized visits for you, in town or nearby.

In the Macuti quarter — named after the coconut palm leaves used to roof its mud houses — most islanders live and work, crafting objects, cooking, weaving, and keeping alive skills long vanished elsewhere. This tour invites you to discover local homes, taste traditional food, and feel the rhythm of the famous Tufo dance. You may simply observe or take part — helping to cook, learning a craft, or joining in the music and joy that make Macuti the true heart of the island.

Soft, fresh, and entirely homemade — our ricotta is prepared in the Jardim dos Aloés kitchen using only fresh milk. Enjoy it plain or lightly seasoned with herbs or spices for extra flavor. Alternative to ice-creams, indulge in our homemade tiramisù, panna cotta, cheesecake, and fresh fruit juices — the perfect companions for a sunset on the rooftop terrace. Offered when available, or prepared on demand for your enjoyment.

Take a taste of our home with you. If you enjoyed our jams at breakfast, why not take a jar with you? We offer a variety of homemade flavours that capture the essence of your time here. Our jams are crafted entirely by hand using seasonal fruits. Each jar contains 40% aloe gel—carefully prepared to remove the bitter aloin—making use of its natural pectin to reduce the need for added sugar. We never use more than 15% sugar in the total fruit and gel mix. Our selection ranges from classic favourites like banana and papaya to unique blends such as grapefruit, lemon, and orange. Depending on availability, we also offer mulberry, strawberry, and many other delightful flavours.

Our ice creams and sorbets are best enjoyed on the panoramic rooftop terrace at sunset. A complimentary tasting is included in your welcome basket when you book directly with us.
